What happened to the surviving son?

I have one big question after reading this story in the Dallas Morning News about the murder of a woman and her her 4-year-old son 18 years ago. The story said the woman's "15-month-old son was unharmed, sitting on her bed gazing at his mother." Where is that son today? The story never says.
