There goes the neighborhood

Just learned that Madonna is going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and, no, I don't mean her; I'm referring to the one pictured over here on the right. I have no problems with the other nominees--John Mellencamp, The Ventures, Leonard Cohen (about damn time) or even the Dave Clark Five. But Madonna? Sure she sold a lot of records but read what Rock and Roll Foundation President and CEO Joel Peresman said about this group of five:

"The 2008 inductees are trailblazers -- all unique and influential in their genres."

Madonna? OK, I concede she is "unique and influential" in her genre, but I will argue to my dying day that her genre has absolutely nothing to do with rock and roll.
