A worthwhile way to spend a Saturday with friends

Tired of all the trash being dumped in your neighborhood. Sick of all the graffiti? Wish all those lazy bums in Code Enforcement would do something about it? Ever wish you could form your own band of vigilantes and take the law into your own hands?

Well, my friend, your day is here.

Actually, your day will be here Saturday May 3 when the City of Dallas will be sending volunteers (that's a little nicer word than vigilantes) throughout our neighborhoods between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to pick up trash and wipe out graffiti. All you need to do is click here to register to be a volunteer. You might also tell your friends and neighbors to click here as well.

The neatest thing about this is there are seven locations geographically dispersed throughout the city from where volunteers will be dispersed. That means you will be cleaning up the area you choose, not sent off to another part of town.

C'mon, it's four hours, people. Plus, after that, all the volunteers will be invited to reunite at (where else?) Reunion Arena for a luncheon with a lot of people with whom you've shared a common purpose and who will be able to feel damn proud about what they've accomplished to improve the quality of life around here.
