Wanna bet?
Sez here that NASA will celebrate today's 40th anniversary of the Beatles recording "Across the Universe" at its Abbey Road Studios by blasting the song into space in the direction of the North Star. (This is also timed to coincide with the 45th anniversary of NASA's Deep Space Network which has a habit of pulling crazy stunts like this.) I'm wondering if someone suggested they might also propel Julie Taymor's movie of the same name up there but were afraid it might be intercepted by critical arts types leading to a full fledged inter-galactic war. According to the pen-protector set, the song should read Polaris in 431 years. I've got $5 that says it won't make it in under 435. Any takers?
