New movies to be released this week on DVD

Baby Mama (2008) **½ This movie serves up plenty of smart, knowing laughs early on, but by the time it hits the third act (or would that be trimester?), it barely crawls to the finish line.

The Fall (2008) **½ This is what you’d get if you told a fiendishly gifted graphic illustrator the plot of "The Princess Bride" and sent him off to come up with his own version.

The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) **½ Although veteran choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping ("Kill Bill," "The Matrix") handles the wire action, the camera work is merely OK and the sequences are on the familiar side. Still, it’s fun to see Jackie Chan resurrect his loopy, staggering "drunken master" fighting style.

Sarah Landon and the Paranormal Hour (2007) * A dull little PG-rated spook story for tweener girls.
