Wait until Clint Eastwood hears about this
That old farm standby, the barn, is apparently going the way of the covered bridges. The reason, apparently, is that there are fewer, albeit larger, farms in rural America and the standard barn just doesn't suit the new mega-farm. I dunno. I'm from the Lower East Side of New York and the closest I've ever come to being in a barn was recently when I visited the ranch of some friends up near Whitesboro and spent some time in their horse barn. I'm not sure that counts. But some of my favorite scenes from movies such as "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and "Witness" involve barn raisings, so I did have a small wave of nostalgia over the news of the disappearing barn way of life.
