A new top dog in the airline industry?

After rebuffing a hostile takeover attempt by U.S. Airways, reports are circulating that Delta airlines may merge with Northwest Airlines. Delta has scaled back its D/FW operations of late and Northwest doesn't have a major presence here either (but, then, other than American, who does?); however, if this merger goes through, it would create the largest airline in the country and perhaps in the entire world.
