Sara Banaszak, senior economist for the American Petroleum Institute (API), will lead a discussion on how the United States can best meet its increasing demand for energy during an informal luncheon at noon Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Southern Methodist University.
Jointly sponsored by SMU Cox Business School’s Maguire Energy Institute and the API, the luncheon discussion will take place in the Ernst & Young Gallery, located on the second floor of SMU Cox’s Fincher Building. Parking will be available on Bishop Boulevard.
Box lunches can be purchased for $5. Reservations may be made by calling 214-768-3168 or e-mailing maguireenergy@cox.smu.edu before the close of business Friday, Jan. 18.
“The United States is at a critical time for making important energy policy decisions,” a Maguire Energy Institute spokesperson said. “With so much at stake, it is crucial that we engage in an open and honest dialogue about how we can best meet the nation’s increasing demand for energy. The acknowledgement of the overarching contributions of oil and natural gas to our nation’s energy security and to the American economy is a key factor in the current national discussion on energy.”
