Merten moves

This news dwarfs the announcement of SMU's new football coach. Sam Merten, one of the best, if not the best, reporters covering all things related to city government has moved from the Dallas Blog over to the Dallas Observer and its Front Burner blog. You can read his first blog entry here. To no one's surprise, Merten's first story is about the Trinity River Corridor Project. He was one of the most dogged and most literate reporters following the recent Trinity Parkway election and all things associated with the Corridor. Dallas Blog's loss is certainly the Observer's (and a wider readership's) gain.
