A look at Dallas' movie rental preferences

This interactive map is a whole lot of fun. It takes a look at the rental preferences of those (like me) who use Netflix to tell you what movies renters in each zip code rented the most.

For instance, the most rented film in my zip code was (curiously enough) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was actually the case in most of the city. Twilight, however was No. 1 in zip code 75216. Zip code 75241 in Far South Dallas went for Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys. DeSoto preferred Seven Pounds, Seagoville's top choice was Knowing.

Other observations:
  • Vicky Cristina Barcelona was the eighth most rented movie in the Park Cities, but didn't finish in the Top 20 anywhere else.
  • Australia was the sixth most rented movie in zip code 75247 (West Dallas), but was neglected by most of the rest of the city.
  • The renters down south in Wilmer and Ferris went wild for Appaloosa, making it their third most rented film.
  • Only the renters of zip code 75251 (around Medical City) had Star Trek in its 10 most rented (9th).
  • Only renters in the East Dallas zip of 75223 wanted to see W in large numbers (it ranked 9th there).
But go and see for yourself if interested.
