Few films have fallen from grace as rapidly as "Sayonara." And I agree that it doesn't hold up. Everything about it is over-stated, especially Marlon Brando's affected Southern accent. The two main love stories never convinced me. As for the two Oscar winners, Red Button's award was just for his change of pace, and Miyoshi Umeki was better in television's "The Courtship of
Eddie's Father."
