A month ago, Hillary Clinton led Barach Obama 36 percent to 22 percent in New Hampshire, the state which in another month will hold the nation's first presidential primary. A new poll, released just this morning, has the two of them in a virtual dead heat. According to the CNN/WUMR results, Hillary's lead is now only 31-30. This might actually turn out to be fun before it's all over.
On the GOP side, Mike Huckabee's advances in other areas are not being reflected in New Hampshire where Mitt Romney is far ahead with 32 percent, followed by Giuliani and McCain tied at 19 percent and Huckabee fourth with 9 percent.
Then along comes Carl P. Leubsdorf to spoil all my fun. In a column in the Dallas Morning News, Leub the thrill-killer tells me not to take any of these polls seriously until after the Iowa caucuses. But, gee, Carl, I can't wait that long.
