For the last three years the Women Film Critics Circle have been handing out two best picture of the year awards -- one for the best film made by a woman and the second the best film about a woman or women. In 2005, they named "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio" as the best picture by a woman and "In Her Shoes" and "Nine Lives" in a tie for the best picture about women. In 2006, the awards went to "Little Miss Sunshine" (best film by a woman) and "Volver" and "The Queen" (tied for best films about women).
The group recently announced its 2007 honorees and they are Best Picture By a Woman--tie: "Away From Her" and "Talk to Me". Best Film About Women--"Juno". To see the complete list of the group's 2007 awards, click here.
