Harsh words for sportswriters

Norman Chad, whom Wickapedia identifies as "a Los Angeles-based sportswriter who is seen frequently on ESPN" (he has not been seen frequently by yours truly; in fact, I don't ever remember seeing him on ESPN, but then I don't watch the channel all the time.) had some harsh words for his colleagues. Writing a column that appeared in today's Chicago Times, Chad said:

"Sportswriters know nothing. And when I say nothing, I mean NOTHING. The day after USC beat Ohio State 35-3, the Los Angeles Times' Bill Plaschke started and finished his column with the words, ''Who is going to beat them?'' In fact, five times in his column, he wrote, ''Who is going to beat them?''

"Who is going to beat them? Well, as it turns out, the next team they played.

"As a rule, a sportswriter can tell you the best steakhouse in town, and nothing else."

A couple more diatribes like that and he'll be known as "Hanging Chad."
